I’m Brian Morrison, a writer and ultrarunner based in Seattle. I came within 250 meters of winning the Western States 100 in 2006—an experience that reshaped how I think about ambition, failure, and identity.
I’ve worked in the specialty run industry for over 20 years. That work has included coaching, hosting trail running camps, and creating and directing the Teanaway Country 100 and the Teeny-Way 50k.
I am a gigantic Pearl Jam fan first seeing them live on July 21, 1998. Since that first show, I’ve seen them live 42 more times and counting. I’ve seen over 30 of those with my wife and a handful with my kids too—making it a full-blown family affair.
